The German Fountain rocks!

There are many pieces of art in our city. However, many of us don't have
any idea about our history or the people who was here bafore us. Plenty of sculpture
are spread around the city, and the most common places are the Alameda Bernardo O'higgins, Cerro San Cristóbal, Parque Forestal among others.

I want to talk about a sculpture which is in the Parque Forestal and this is
the "Fuente Alemana" (not the restaurant, that is fantastic! haha). This sculpture was donated by the community chilean-german when our country celebrated its centennial, almost one hundread years ago. It has around 5-6 people who are sailing from The Andes to the ocean. For this reason the boat has in one part a condor and on the other side has a seal, the boat is on a pile of stones where drained with a lot of water.

Anyway I chose it, due to is one of the most imposing sculptures in Santiago and it is a very interesting sculpture. People do not usually take on importance, and the worst thing is that in summer some people go there and swim on the fountain!!! (Most of cases are the chavs or people who don't have money to have a shower). I hope we can create conscience and care of the few good places which we have. Now that you know more about this sculpture, what do you think about this piece of great art?
